Whalewatching, Whales of Iceland Exhibition & The Golden Circle afternoon tour – in a minibus

This tour combines some of the most popular attractions in Iceland. After exploring the wonders of the whales, it is ideal to enjoy the stunning sites of the Golden Circle. Included in the price is a ticket to the Whales of Iceland Exhibition that you can visit anytime during your stay in Reykjavík and the entrance fee to Kerið Volcanic crater. The tour starts at Reykjavik Sailors harbor Vesturbugt in downtown Reykjavik where you will embark upon your whale watching tour at 08:45. After exploring the wonders of the whales in Faxaflói bay, you return to the harbor around 12:30. At 13:00 you’ll be picked up by the Hópbílar/Around Iceland minibus in front of Reykjavik Sailors ticket office for the Golden Circle afternoon tour. The Golden Circle tour covers some of the most popular highlights of Iceland. Kerið is a striking crater-lake filled with milky blue-green water amid stark black and deep red slopes. Geologists now believe it to be a collapsed magma chamber at the end of a volcanic eruption that occurred more than 6,000 years ago. In the Geysir geothermal area we get the chance to observe the boiling hot spring Strokkur spout steaming water up to 25 meters into the air every 5-7 minutes. The iconic waterfall of Gullfoss, or Golden Falls is located in the glacial river Hvítá which originates in Langjökull glacier, the second largest in Iceland. Its elegant and majestic form is like no other, where the torrential river water plummets in two steps down into a 32 meters deep canyon carved out by the glacia-river for thousands of years. Þingvellir National Park is not only a site of geological wonders, located in between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, but also a place charged with history, as the site of the national parliament since 930. The Alþingi (assembly) at Þingvellir was Iceland’s supreme legislative and judicial authority from its establishment until 1271. Þingvellir tells stories of geographical and political struggles, compromises and ongoing evolution. Þingvellir was accepted on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its cultural values in 2004. Travel with Around Iceland and our proffesional guides will make your experience unforgettable and feeling like a local during the tour.
