Meet us on location for one of Iceland´s most popular day trips, made yet different by Asgard. In groups of only 8 guests accompanied by experienced and qualified local guides we visit Sólheimajökull outlet glacier on foot. Explore the glacier wonder world and experience first hand the effects of climate change. A fun and exciting way to get to know one of Iceland´s wonders in depth and in a true small group. On this 1-1.5hour walk you will see and hear about all the glacial features, enjoy the most stunning scenery and hear interesting facts about the Icelandic history and formation.
You will meet your guide at Sólheimajökull parking lot and be introduced to the equipment needed for the tour. Please note that Asgard is the only operator that hand out Hiking boots and rainwear free of charge. Once Boots, rainwear, crampons, Ice axe, helmet, and harness have been fitted, you will walk with your small group escorted by a local certified guide towards the Glacier (about 15-20minutes). Once in front of the glacier, your guide will show you and help to put crampons on your boots and introduce in more detail the appropriate usage of the equipment as well as safety on the glacier. Enjoy a 1-1.5hour long glacier hike on the ice and hear about formations you’ve never witnessed before. After the fun and educational hike, you’ll find your self in front of the glacier again taking crampons off and walking back to the parking lot, where the team says far-well and everyone continues on their Iceland adventure.
This tour is truly a small group adventure. We only take 8 people on a departure – Making it the smallest organised group departure of all!
Don´t worry about the equipment, the price of the tour includes waterproof mountaineering boots, technical glacier equipment and rain gear. With a low client to guide ratio, you are getting the best service available.
